Eastern Kingbird nest - Photo by Gary Starr

Eastern Kingbirds were one of the highlights of our July 8th Monthly Wildlife monitoring walk at Otter View Park. The first sighting was of the nest pictured above in an Apple tree near the main path. It contained three chicks looking very ready to fledge out at any time being tended to by their parents. Later when we were on the boardwalk we spotted another family of Kingbirds, this time the parents were keeping a watchful eye over three fledglings in the trees nearby.

Otter Creek Audubon and the Middlebury Area Land Trust invite anyone to join us for our next Wildlife Walk at Otter View Park and the Hurd Grassland, Saturday, August 14, 7:30 AM.  Meet at the parking area of Otter View Park at the intersection of Weybridge St. and Pulp Mill Bridge Road.
