On Friday, April 11, Ted Murin and Scott Morrical discovered a Pink-footed Goose in the flooded fields along Creek Rd. in Salisbury. The Pink-footed Goose which is a native of northern Europe and eastern Greenland is similar to Greater White-fronted Goose in appearance but it is a darker brown and lacks the white face. If accepted by the Vermont Birds Records Committee, this would be only the second state record for the species, the first one having been sighted in Grand Isle in 1999, but of course that means this is a first Addison County record. This sighting had birders from all over the region rushing to Salisbury to see this rarity.
