On this 4th of July, we thought it appropriate to mention that our national bird, the Bald Eagle does nest in Addison County, but you’ll have to forgive us if we are circumspect about exactly where. Bald Eagles are beginning to recover in the state, and are starting to create a healthy population, but they are still a protected species and their nests can be very sensitive to disturbance. If you spot an Eagle nest, please observe it from a respectful distance that does not cause them to alarm or leave the nest. And information on nest locations should only be shared with Vermont Fish & Wildlife.

These pictures are of a nest that has successfully fledged chicks for the past several years and it looks like they are well on their way to fledging out another pair this summer.
