On Thursday November 10, the Otter Creek Audubon Society will be holding our Annual Dinner and Meeting, a chance for us to get together with the OCAS community and celebrate the work we have done over the past year and the volunteers who have made that work possible.

Our featured speaker this year will be Geoff LeBaron, National Christmas Bird Count Director giving the presentation, The Christmas Bird Count: From Historical Conservation to 21st Century Citizen Science. This program will look at the CBC in past, present, and future tenses, including stories—as investigated using the online CBC tool set—about how some species of birds are doing on local, regional, and continental scales.

We are also very pleased to be be presenting our Silver Feather Award to Warren King. As many know so well, Warren has spent decades of leadership and commitment, sharing his skills, tact, wisdom, patience, and time helping to create and sustain the success of the Otter Creek Audubon Society’s numerous programs; and serving as our articulate ambassador in the conservation community throughout Vermont. He has taught his colleagues year after year with his faultless example.

The meeting will be held at the The American Legion, 49 Wilson Road, Middlebury, Vermont. Preceded by a social hour, a Lasagna dinner will begin at 6pm. The cost for the meal is $18.50, and you can use this invitation (pdf) to make reservations.

The meeting at 6:45, Silver Feather presentation at 7:15 and the featured speaker beginning at 7:45 are free and open to the public.
